Our Policies

Missed lessons/makeup policy

Each student has a reserved time slot within the studio schedule. Parents have paid for my time each week and time cannot be refunded nor exchanged. I cannot re-sell a students time slot therefore making up a lesson later in that week or during a break ultimately results in the student being given two lessons instead of one.

I understand that students sometimes participate in many extra curricular activities and this can result in conflicts within their schedule. This is a choice that each family makes. I cannot be expected to offer makeups due to conflicts with school, extra-curricular activities, or family functions and vacations, no matter how much notice is given.

When a student is sick, I request the student does not attend their lesson in person. We will switch to a remote lesson via zoom. If a student has issues with attendance at a remote lesson or is too sick to attend a remote lesson, a video lesson will be prepared by the teacher. A link to that lesson will be sent within a 24 hour period

If a student arrives late to their lesson time, the student will receive the remaining time.

Long-term discontinuation of lessons due to extra-curricular activities could result in the loss of the student’s time slot unless tuition is paid to hold that time slot. Again there will not be a credit issued nor a makeup offered.

Lessons cancelled by the teacher are always made up or credit is given.

Lesson Termination

Lessons will be terminated by the teacher in the event of irregular attendance, failure to prepare assigned material, disruptive behavior or non payment of tuition for 45 days or more.

Parking/drop-off

As a courtesy to my neighbors and family, all students must be dropped off-picked up along King’s Ave or in front of my home on 59th Place. There are two full parking spaces in front of my home. If you are the first to arrive, please pull up to the start of the driveway leaving enough space behind you for another car. Please do not park or wait in my driveway, or in front of any neighbor’s home.

Blocking the street or any driveway, speeding or U-turns are not allowed as a courtesy to the neighborhood families.

Studio Courtesies

  • Students shall wash hands, get drinks, and use the restroom before entering the studio.
  • No food or drink allowed in the studio. This includes water bottles.
  • Students generally attend lessons alone. If a parent or teacher feels the need for lesson observation, this should be arranged prior to the lesson.
  • If a parent wishes to discuss their child’s progress, please do so via phone or email. Your child is here for only 30 or 45 minutes, so please try to avoid using any of that time unless that conversation cannot wait until a phone conversation can be arranged. Please be courteous to the next student and to the teacher by not waiting until the lesson is over to begin this conversation.
  • No guests allowed at any time.
